Happy mother’s day to all the people who are doing amazing work in the world! So much respect for lady moms. Ryan and I are taking my mom to Barnes & Noble today :)
What I Wore: Colorblocking!
I found this Cynthia Rowley dress at TJ Max and meant to take it back because it’s a little brighter than I usually like to wear at work but I missed the 30 return deadline so instead I just wore it to work. My life is so exciting.
Dress: magenta and navy color block funness- TJ Max(x?)
Shoes: nude pumps by Franco Sarto- Lord and Taylor
Sweater: trusty tan cardi- BR
Belt: neon pink thinny, Nordstrom
Sunnies: Everett, Warby Parker
It’s almost Friday!

What I Wore: sad day.
From now on, little one gets to join in all my photos. We found out yesterday he has cancer, which is just so sad because there is nothing we can do. But we aren’t dwelling on it and trying to spend as much time with him being playful and loving. Aw. Also, I have some clothes on that include a weirdly rouched shirt from Macy’s, flared trousers from Ann Taylor, and sweater from Banana Republic.
What I Wore: After-hours Errands
My usual routine after work is to come home and go directly to the nearest pair of sweatpants, grab my computer and plant my behind on the couch, preferably in front of old episodes of the office or house hunters. Tonight, I had to actually venture out of the house and since I’m fighting off a cold right now, I threw on an old standard—sweater, jeans and loafers.
Shirt: Plain white tee form H&M, Prague
Sweater: light beige with navy arm bands, Forever 21
Jeans: short skinny dark wash from high school! Abercrombie (who, for all their awful corporate practices, makes really comfortable and long lasting (obviously) jeans)
Shoes: Tangerine loafers, Ruche
Bag: GET IT IN ONE OF THESE AWESOME NEW SPRING COLORS
Anyone have any good cold remedies?

What I Wore: Clothes
I just sat in front of my computer for two minutes trying to come up with a name for this outfit and I couldn’t so that’s why I titled it ‘clothes.’ I like these clothes. These clothes fit me and are nice colors. The end. Just an FYI, the only bad thing about switching jobs within the same company is that you can’t just leave all your files like a ghost town when you bust out… you actually have to put some effort into explaining your organization system and/or leave detailed notes behind. I’m debating on which of these will be the least amount of work in between the mountains of projects my editor wants me to complete before I leave. Suggestions?
Shirt: Rose colored silky blouse with lace detail, Forever 21 (and God knows I’d have to search for three hours to find anything remotely similar in the abyss that is their website)
Pants: grayish, ankle length cropped pants with minute hound’s-tooth pattern, Ann Taylor (I scored these off the sale rack, like everything I get at AT)
Jacket: Old Faithful (riding jacket from childhood)
Shoes: Nine West supa’ comfortable wedges, TJ Maxx question mark?
Also, I don’t know if you noticed, but I changed the name of my blog to ‘BROOKLYNTREE IS INTO IT’ because no one understood ‘Growing in Brooklyn’ was a reference to my favorite book “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” and that I lived in Los Angeles and creepy city boys kept asking me to get drinks with them and that’s not okay.
I’m into it!

What I Wore: ‘Officially’ Happy
It is official, guys. I’ve accepted the offer from one of our other imprints to be an editorial assistant. Pretty lateral move but my old boss (you have NO idea how happy I am to be working under her again!) gave me a really nice raise and is genuinely excited to have me come over which feels so, so good. I make my transition May 14th and I’m just really excited to make the move from textbooks into more educator resource materials. I have nothing against textbooks and I really, really enjoyed working on them but I really couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work for my former, er, current boss again!
Shirt: The most glorious long-sleeve tee in light grey, GET IT RIGHT NOW at BR
Khakis: Usually I am anti black with khaki but today I was feeling adventurous. I actually like it a lot better then the brown I’ve been pairing it with lately. The look is much less washed out. Get my ‘weekend chinos’ from BR
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini, from Macy’s question mark?
Scarf: Salmon-y leopard print, TJ Maxx
GUYS, I’M SO EXCITED,
m.
What I Wore: I’d Rather Be Lounging
It’s one of those days where I needed to be comfortable—conference call training (oh my god, I’ve never spoken for an hour straight before…), editorial assistant monthly meeting, going away party for a colleague, oh and I’m supposed to get work done today, too. I found this skirt at TJ Maxx and hope to take it on my Eurocation this summer. It is so comfy!
Shirt: lace over knit? heck yes!, J. Crew
Skirt: Navy and heather grey striped skirt, the brand is 7Seven form TJ Maxx
Watch: Ya’ll know.
Shoes (not shown): I’m wearing my gold loafers because they are literally god’s gift to my feet, Lord and Taylor
Ah, I’m off to another meeting,
m.
What I Wore: Gettin’ our magic on
My best best best friend Jesse recently uprooted himself from his amazing apartment overlooking Grauman’s Chinese Theatre to pursue a higher calling as a news producer in Pennsylvania. Just a minor change in scenery—one of the world’s busiest streets to one of the least! He rules at life. Anyways, he came back for a mini vacay, mostly because he missed us so much (I made that up). He treated us all to a fabulous night at one of the most exclusive (and most amazing) clubs in Hollywood where he is a member—The Magic Castle. I love it there and I’m so glad I could have a night out with him before he leaves us again today. Womp.

Spectacles: Colton in tortoise, Warby Parker, available here
Open Sesame,

What I Wore: cashmere.
Southern California has been under quite a haze (literally, it’s been foggy and rainy!) and I woke up this morning wishing I could just stay in bed so, naturally, I threw on the next best thing: a gorgeous cashmere sweater. Unfortunately, I spent the whole day wishing I was in bed. Oh well.
Sweater: Cashmere v-neck, (currently unavailable at) Nordstrom
Pants: Weird greenish-tan (with brownish weave?) cuffed/flares, Banana Republic Factory Store
Heels: Suede tan and black colorblock, no longer available at White House Black Market
Necklace: Christmas Present!
Jacket: Also a Christmas Present! but it is from Forever 21
adios amigos,
mayan
What I Wore: I Hate Today
It’s one of those days. Mentally preparing yourself to quit (ahem, switch roles) and then having to keep working in the job you believe yourself to already be removed form really blows, especially when your boss seems to imply you don’t know how to do your job.
Dress: Most comfortable stretchy wrap dress ever- Ann Taylor Outlet
Sweater: Tan- Banana Republic
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini patent kitten heel wedges- Macy’s
Watch: Michael Kors- Macy’s
Bag: Cole Haan satchel in Prussian Blue, Brooke- available in brown (and other colors) here
Can I go to Europe now?
Mayan
